When to book a wedding videographer in South East Queensland
Published October 2026 · Sean Harman
Book your wedding videographer as soon as your date and venue are set. In South East Queensland most couples book 10 to 18 months ahead, and peak-season Saturdays are usually the first to go.
Why book so early?
A good videographer films a limited number of weddings each year, and Saturday is by far the most popular day. Once a Saturday is taken, that is it. Booking early also gives you time to choose the people you want, rather than whoever is free.
Which months fill first?
Easy Weddings' 2025 industry report found the most popular months for Australian weddings were November (15% of couples), March (13%) and October (12%). Peak season runs from September to April. June and July are the quietest, with only 4% and 3% of weddings.
If you are marrying in spring or autumn, treat 12 to 18 months as the safe window. A winter wedding gives you more choice and sometimes more flexibility, but shorter daylight hours matter for outdoor ceremonies. See my timeline guide with sunset times.
What if my date is less than a year away?
Ask anyway. Dates do come up, particularly outside peak season. Send your date and venue and you will hear back from the person who would actually film it, with honest advice either way. Let's check your date.
A sensible order for booking suppliers
- Venue: everything else depends on your date.
- Celebrant: you must give them your Notice of Intended Marriage at least one month before the wedding (see the legal basics).
- Photographer and videographer: the best ones book out early, and they work best when they know each other's plans.
- Everything else: florals, catering, music and styling.
What to have ready when you enquire
- Your date and venue
- Ceremony time
- How many hours of coverage you want
- The name of your photographer, if booked
