Cherbon Waters Wedding Film
Cherbon Waters sits on the banks of the Leslie Harrison Reservoir at Burbank, about twenty-five minutes from the Brisbane CBD, with water, trees and room to breathe. Here is how a wedding there looked on film.
About Cherbon Waters
Cherbon Waters is a lakeside venue on the Leslie Harrison Reservoir at Burbank, with open lawns, a waterside gazebo and bush on the far bank.
Your wedding day at Cherbon Waters
The ceremony. The ceremony is held in the gazebo, with uninterrupted views over the water.
Portraits. In my film here, the couple stands on the open lawn with the lake behind them and a plume of pink smoke drifting across the grass, which shows how much space and sky there is. After the ceremony the photos move around the lakeside gardens before the reception.
The reception. The reception is in a silk-lined marquee with chandeliers, sandstone flooring and a large timber dance floor, overlooking a cove that is lit at night.
Why couples choose it
Couples choose Cherbon Waters for the scenery, which is the most repeated reason, and because it is an easy drive for guests coming from across Brisbane. You get a water backdrop and plenty of sky without leaving the city's reach.
What couples say
Couples describe the team, the owners included, as friendly, helpful and willing to go above and beyond. They talk about a responsive team and packages that feel reasonably priced, and they mention how convenient it is for guests travelling from different parts of Brisbane.
Filming a wedding at Cherbon Waters
With Cherry & Brian, I filmed moments like the couple with foreheads together in a haze of pink smoke beside a still pond. Read their story.
The waterside gazebo is used for the ceremony and for portraits, with uninterrupted water views, and it has a sound system that a videographer can plug into, which is a real help for clear vows. You have exclusive use of the lakeside gardens. Ask the venue which way the gazebo faces and where the sun will sit over the water, because that decides the best time for portraits. The gazebo also gives welcome shade for midday shots.
Open water settings mean big, soft light in the evening, which is lovely on film, but wind can be a factor outdoors. I will talk through audio for the ceremony so your vows are clear and plan the portraits for when the sky is at its best.
