Gabbinbar Homestead Wedding Film
Gabbinbar Homestead is Toowoomba's heritage wedding icon: century-old trees, a charming chapel and lawns that glow at golden hour. Here's how one of those days looked on film.
About Gabbinbar Homestead
Gabbinbar is a thirteen-acre estate in Toowoomba, used by one wedding at a time, with century-old trees and a white pavilion in the gardens.
Your wedding day at Gabbinbar Homestead
The ceremony. The ceremony sits under a big old tree or in the white pavilion, and in my film here the couple laughs back up the aisle with petals in the air.
Portraits. In my film here, a kiss with the veil lifting and sunlight breaking through the greenery behind. The old trees and the pavilion give soft frames in the late afternoon.
Why couples choose it
Couples choose Gabbinbar for a heritage garden wedding with everything arranged for them: private use of the estate, a choice of ceremony settings and a team that handles the details. Nearby holiday rentals can be booked for the wedding party.
Couples say a first visit settled it. Some noticed the service, quality and attention to detail straight away, and felt they could trust the team to keep everything running smoothly. They wanted a good wet-weather option and loved the gardens, which look lovely by day and magical with fairy lights at night. One couple who did not think Toowoomba would suit them fell in love on their first visit, and another chose it after seeing it in person and over a video call. Many call it a destination wedding that is still close enough to Brisbane for guests to go home afterwards.
Filming a wedding at Gabbinbar Homestead
With Lauren & Lachlan, I filmed moments like the couple laughing as they walk back up the aisle, petals in the air and guests cheering under a big old tree. Read their story.
With Sarah & Jared, I filmed moments like a kiss with the veil lifting and sunlight breaking through the greenery behind them. Read their story.
With Jessica & Rhys, I filmed moments like the couple forehead to forehead in a cloud of pink smoke. Read their story.
With Laura & Matt, I filmed moments like a close, tender portrait of the bride resting her head on the groom's shoulder, a white rose on his lapel. Read their story.
Gabbinbar's own advice is to book your photographer early and to ask to see a full wedding they have shot, not just the highlights, which is good advice for videographers too. Couples are welcome to use the venue for an engagement shoot before the wedding, which is a great way to get comfortable on camera and to see the light. The grounds have enchanted gardens, fountains and fairy lights, and the conservatory has French doors and a glass roof, so there is variety from daylight to evening.
With several ceremony sites to choose from, tell me which you are leaning towards and I will plan around the light. Century-old trees and a white pavilion make beautiful, soft frames in the late afternoon, so we will plan the timeline to match.
