Your wedding day at Kooroomba Lavender Farm

The ceremony. Vows are made in the open-air timber chapel.

Portraits. In my film here, the couple hugs among purple lavender with a weathered timber structure behind them. The lavender is seasonal, so the colour depends on your date.

The reception. The restaurant hosts the reception, indoors or outdoors.

Why couples choose it

Couples are drawn to Kooroomba for the lavender, the mountains and the feeling of being a long way from the city, in a place that already looks like a picture. It makes a lovely setting for a proposal as well as a wedding.

One couple first came across the chapel online about a decade before the wedding, and always dreamed of marrying there. Others love the views of the Scenic Rim, which matter to them after many adventures on the mountains, and the open timber chapel has no walls to speak of, so the whole range sits behind the celebrant.

What couples say

Couples who have married in the open-air chapel say it needed very little decoration, so they let the space speak for itself, and that exchanging vows was the highlight.

Filming a proposal at Kooroomba Lavender Farm

With Esther & RJ, I filmed moments like the couple hugging among purple lavender, a weathered timber structure behind them. Read their story.

The open timber chapel has no walls, so the whole Scenic Rim sits behind the celebrant, and the light moves through it all afternoon. After the ceremony, portraits among the lavender rows work well as the sun drops behind the ridge. Couples have kept the floral styling simple around the frame so as not to block the view. Ask the farm when the lavender flowers, because it changes from year to year.

Lavender is seasonal, so ask the farm what will be in flower on your date. If you are planning a proposal, tell me where and when and I will plan the shoot so it looks like a quiet walk and nothing more. Engagement and proposal films are priced as coverage, from $400 an hour.
