Maleny Manor Wedding Film

Maleny Manor sits high on the Blackall Range with views over the Obi Obi Gorge, a venue made for film. I've filmed here several times; these are real weddings, shown with each couple's blessing.

About Maleny Manor

Maleny Manor is a white manor with steep gables, balconies and curved staircases, set in grounds on the Blackall Range with views over the hills.

Your wedding day at Maleny Manor

Getting ready. The manor has accommodation on site, so the wedding party can get ready and the couple can wake there on the morning.

The ceremony. The three ceremony settings are beneath the Crows Ash tree, in the sandstone Pavilion or on the elevated grass of the Helipad.

Portraits. In my films here, a couple kisses on the lawn at dusk with the light glowing through the bare trees, another holds hands in a paddock with green hills behind, and the bride sits in the groom's lap beneath an old tree with a red bouquet beside them. The white walls and balconies work for formal portraits, and the Helipad gives space and late light.

Why couples choose it

Couples choose Maleny Manor for the view, the gardens and the feeling that everything is looked after: a venue where you can arrive, get ready, marry and celebrate on the one property.

The most common reason couples give is having the ceremony and reception in one place, so guests do not have to travel between them. They also love the pavilion with its hinterland views, the garden party in between and, in some cases, having their dogs be part of the ceremony. Couples who flew guests in from across the country liked the all-inclusive setup, which made it easy to coordinate their suppliers, and several said that from the moment they walked in it was clear this was the place.

What couples say

Couples talk about a stress-free planning process with a coordinator who was lovely to deal with, and friendly staff who could not do enough for guests. They praise the views and the impeccably kept grounds, the delicious and beautifully presented food, and the ease of keeping everything on one site.

Filming a wedding at Maleny Manor

With Kate & Jonathon, I filmed moments like the couple kissing on a lawn at dusk, light glowing through the bare trees behind them. Read their story.

With Sally & Jordan, I filmed moments like the couple embracing as the sun sets over soft green hills. Read their story.

With Marisa & Michael, I filmed moments like the couple holding hands in a paddock, smiling at each other, green hills behind. Read their story.

With Kimberley & Anthony, I filmed moments like the bride sitting in the groom's lap on the grass beneath a big old tree, a red bouquet beside them. Read their story.

With Montana & Dean, I filmed moments like the couple sharing a quiet moment under a black umbrella among green hills, her cheek against his. Read their story.

A local photographer notes that Maleny Manor sits on the eastern side of the mountain, so the light drops a little earlier than at some other hinterland venues. Their suggestion is to lean into the deep, colourful gardens and vineyards for moodier images, and to plan sun-flare shots earlier. Ceremonies can be under the Crows Ash tree, in the sandstone Pavilion or on the grass Helipad, and the Pavilion is the wet-weather plan. The Loft has plenty of natural light for hair and make-up, and guests are entertained under the festoon lights while the couple takes portraits across the estate.

With the accommodation on site I can film the morning preparations as well as the ceremony and the reception, and the grounds give plenty of space for portraits. The hills can bring mist in the morning, which is beautiful, so we will plan the timeline to make the most of it.
