O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat Wedding Film

O'Reilly's is a rainforest retreat in Lamington National Park, high on the mountain, with a small historic church, a vineyard and cliff-top lookouts.

The ceremony. Couples marry in St Joseph's Church, among the vines at the vineyard, or at a mountain-top lookout.

Portraits. In my film here, the couple embraces in dense rainforest with the sun breaking through behind them. Moonlight Crag gives a cliff-top platform with valley views, and Hidden Gully is a sheltered rainforest spot.

The reception. Receptions can be held in the homestead ballroom, the dining rooms or a marquee in the grounds.

Couples choose O'Reilly's for the rainforest and the sense of a real escape: a mountain, a historic church and a team that is used to weddings. It suits couples who want the setting to do much of the work, and who do not mind a scenic drive to get there.

One couple chose it because the groom had happy childhood memories of O'Reilly's and it was where they celebrated their first year together. They loved that the little church was small and quaint, with enough seating for every guest, so everyone felt welcomed and involved.

O'Reilly's has a lot of settings: St Joseph's Church, the vineyard with its creek and vines, Moonlight Crag, a cliff-top platform with views over the valley and mountain ranges, and Hidden Gully, a rainforest spot sheltered by the canopy. The wedding pack has included a 4WD and driver for about an hour and a half of bridal party location shots, which makes it easy to reach the spots, so ask if that is still offered. Mist often settles in the valleys, and the sunsets are a feature. The church is small and the light inside can be low, so photographers and videographers plan for that. Lamington National Park is protected land, so ask about drone rules.
