Pier 33 Wedding Film
Pier 33 sits on the Mooloolaba marina on the Sunshine Coast, in the old yacht club building, with a deck over the water. Here is how three of those days looked on film.
About Pier 33
Pier 33 is the former Mooloolaba Yacht Club, on the marina, with a white Hamptons look. The boats, masts and water do most of the work for the camera.
Your wedding day at Pier 33
The ceremony. Vows are made on The Deck over the marina or on the lawn beside the water.
Portraits. In my films here, a couple walks the marina boardwalk past a white cable fence with the masts lined up behind them, and another stands on the sand at dusk with the bride's dress catching the wind. The Spit and the beach are a short drive away.
The reception. The River Room is the largest space, with an indoor-outdoor area and a private bar. The Picket Room and its patio suit a smaller party.
After dark. At night the deck lights and the water give a warm backdrop for a quiet minute together, as in a balcony frame I filmed with string lights.
Why couples choose it
Couples choose Pier 33 for a coastal wedding with a view: boats, water and open sky, an easy location for guests, and an interior that feels fresh rather than formal. It works for a relaxed day that still has a sense of occasion.
Because the venue sits right on the water, some couples have had their wedding party arrive by boat. Others booked it without ever having visited, because they were so sure of what they had seen.
What couples say
Couples talk about the waterfront setting and the service making the day, and about a wedding coordinator who kept the planning organised and the day calm. Guests complimented the setting and how well the day was run, and the food and the upstairs function room with the marina deck come up often.
Filming a wedding at Pier 33
With Sarah & Michael, I filmed moments like the couple on the sand at dusk, waves behind them and the bride's dress catching the wind. Read their story.
With Indianna & Kyle, I filmed moments like the couple walking along a marina boardwalk, boat masts lined up behind them. Read their story.
With Emma & Steele, I filmed moments like the couple holding each other on a balcony at night, with string lights and the lights of the water behind them. Read their story.
The River Room is reached by stairs only, so plan how to move camera and audio gear. Ceremonies are on the Deck with marina views or on the lawn overlooking the water, and the water throws glare at midday, so a polarising filter is useful. Some couples have arrived by boat, which makes a lovely opening to the day. Ask the venue about the timeline early, because the venue is busy.
A marina deck means big evening skies and some breeze, so I will plan audio for your ceremony and plan the portraits for when the light is at its best over the water. Because the venue is busy, I will ask early about the timeline so we are not rushed.
