About The Rocks

The Rocks is a riverside country property at Yandina, with open paddocks and a grove on the river bank.

Your wedding day at The Rocks

The ceremony. The ceremony is held in a tree-lined paddock or in the riverside grove, and there is a weather backup plan.

Portraits. In my film here, the bride laughs as the groom kisses her cheek on an open lawn. Paddock light and river-bank shade give you two very different looks.

Why couples choose it

Couples choose The Rocks for an earthy, rustic country wedding with the river close by, and for the relaxed, unfussy feel of the place. It is an easy venue for guests to reach from the coast and from Brisbane.

Couples chose it for privacy and the feel of a secluded country property, with the ceremony and reception in one place. Some were drawn to the water, with a ceremony overlooking the Maroochy River and a sunset by the river afterwards. Others wanted a glass-roof marquee and long tables, or a boho country look, and they say the team welcomed all their ideas. Portraits can all be done on the property, using the open paddocks and the hills without leaving.

What couples say

Couples talk about brilliant staff and a very earthy, rustic country feel. They say the weather backup plan meant they did not have to worry on a rainy day, and they praise the food, which was beautiful and reasonably priced. They mention coordinators who answered emails quickly and had everything ready on time, and a venue that ticked all their boxes.

Filming a wedding at The Rocks

With Kristina & DJ, I filmed moments like the bride laughing as the groom kisses her cheek on an open lawn. Read their story.

A photographer who has worked here points out that having the ceremony, the reception and the portraits all close together makes for an easy, beautiful day, and another did all the portraits on the property, using the open paddocks and the hills. For the sunset, the River Grove, the Riverside Terrace and the River Lawn look out over the river. There is a weather backup plan, and marquees can be placed to keep the river and paddock sightlines open, so talk to the venue about where yours would sit.

Open paddocks and a river grove give you very different light, so I will ask which ceremony spot you are leaning towards and plan the timing around it. A wet-weather plan is already part of the venue, so we will agree early how we handle it.
